Thirty-Five Years in the Making

Last May, Foliot Furniture marked 35 years of operations. What started as a small manufacturing operation in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, has grown into a North American contract furniture manufacturer serving hospitality, student housing, community living, government, and staff housing markets across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The milestone is significant, but the people behind it are the story.

And so on May 21st, Foliot marked the occasion the way it marks most things: together. Employees and management gathered for a company-wide celebration at the Saint-Jérôme facility: music, a large marquee filled with dining tables, games set up across the parking lot, a food truck, beverages, and an ice cream truck to close out the afternoon. It was a moment that reflected the culture Foliot has built over 35 years: warm, inclusive, and genuinely fun.

The day opened with remarks from members of Foliot's leadership team, including founder Daniel Foliot, who started the company in 1991 and gave a moving speech to the people who built on what he began. What he did not know was that the team had a surprise of its own. At both locations where employees gathered, a scholarship was created in his name to help Foliot employees' children pursue higher education. Two scholarships, one founder, and a tribute that does exactly what he set out to do 35 years ago: invest in the people who make the work possible.
