Ensuring the Well-Being of Our Clients with STURDY Act Compliance
What is the STURDY Act?
The STURDY Act requires robust safety standards to prevent tip-overs in clothing storage units. It includes mandatory testing for stability and performance under real-world conditions to protect consumers, especially children.
All manufacturers are required to comply with these regulations, which apply to clothing storage units manufactured after September 1, 2023. The CPSC adopted ASTM F2057-23 as a mandatory safety standard. The STURDY Act encompasse free-standing clothing storage units, including but not limited to chests, chests of drawers, armoires, bureaus, wardrobes, and dressers that are:
• 27 inches or greater in height; AND
• 30 pounds or greater in weight; AND
• contain 3.2 cubic feet or greater of enclosed storage volume.
